Youth Group Activity (grades 6-12) May 17, 2009 Painting at the Christmas Store and Pizza together at Cici's afterwards.
We will meet in the parking lot at Christ Church at 3:30. Wear work clothes(ones that you don't mind getting a little paint on), come ready to work for a few hours(from 4-6) painting the shelves in the kids toy section at the Christmas store. Bring your friends to help, too, since this is a pretty big job we are hoping to get done! Bring money to pay for your meal at Cici's, since you are sure to be hungry after all of that painting! We should be back home sometime between 7 and 8pm! Hope to see you Sunday! Adult volunteers needed to help with driving, painting and eating. Diocesan Event May 16th, 2009
MDG Lock-In @ St. Paul's Salem Senior high overnight event May 15@ 6pm-16th at noon. 18 hour fast and activities to increase awareness about world hunger. Registration infor http://youth.dioswva.org
Spring Mass on the Mountain April 17th-19th
The next Mass on the Mountain will be held in the New River convocation close to the Christiansburg/Blacksburg area. Camping out at Boley Fields and a hike to the Cascades including Eucharist with the Bishop. This event is for youth in grades 6-12 and their families. Check out the diocesan website for details and deadlines for the two unique mission opportunities for youth this summer!
THE BIG EVENT - C6+Y was more fun than any of us expected. We assembled at 9:30 p.m. on September 27th at the church and proceeded to "crawl" through town. The first stop was at Ben & Jerry's to dive into a Vermonster. On our walk to Squires, we colected clues for the Treasure Hunt. Bowling at midnight was a blast. The following morning we hiked up the Cascades, celebrated the Holy Eucharist on the trail, and enjoyed nature with the great company.
This past weekend's event was great fun, so let's keep the energy going! The New River Convocation meeting on October 26th will include a youth activity at 3pm. Should be fun since WE are hosting at Christ Church!!
Check out the diocesan website and consider going to Mass on the Mountain (youth and families)October 17th-19th with the Monacan Indians or the Fall youth event (grades 8-12) All of the details are on the website including registration forms. The Deadline for Mass on the Mountain in October 13th. Let me know if any of you plan on attending.
