Christ Church Outreach
Outreach to the larger Blacksburg and Montgomery County forms as important facet to parish life at Christ Church, as well as outreach on a global scale.
Please support Christ Church's outreach efforts by donating time, money, and/or worldly goods. The biyearly Yardsale/Auction (August 21, 2010) and yearly Spring Fling Luncheon (April 27, 2011) generate a large portion of the outreach funding as well as promote community spirit within the church community.
PARTY WITH A PURPOSE! FOOD, GAMES, PRIZES OF ALL KINDS!
THE PURPOSE: Help us fill 180 Christmas gift boxes for American Indian children on the Pine Ridge Reservation
WHEN: TBA
WHERE: Christ Church Parish Hall
WHO: Especially for children (approximately pre-school through 5th grade) and families but fun for anyone in the parish.
THEME: Fall harvest and The First Thanksgiving
POTLUCK DINNER: Begins with potluck dinner. Please bring a dish to share.
THEME DISCUSSION: What was it like at the first Thanksgiving dinner, what did they eat, how did they get that food? (No, Kroger wasn’t open in that part of the country yet.) The children will fill Christmas gift boxes for their Lakota brothers and sisters in the Head Start program on Pine Ridge Reservation—a festive party that does a good deed. ~~Rex Hartson
